Nicole Heeder and Amanda Thompson are actively involved in the Community Outreach Committee of the Lawyers Club of San Diego, a committee which organizes and completes hands-on community service projects each year. They are the project leaders of this year’s project, “Extreme Makeover: Lawyer’s Club Edition” of which the beneficiary is San Diego Youth Services Teen Options Program, a no-cost outpatient facility designed to support pregnant and parenting adolescent teens (ages 12-25), focusing on parenting skills, recovery, healthy lifestyle, education, and counseling services. The project will consist of creating a warm, inviting seating area, including new flooring, furniture, paint, toys, books, etc. and giving the daycare a face-lift, including painting and decorating. We are also raising funds to obtain additional needed baby supplies and toys.
For more information about the project, visit LAWYERS CLUB OF SAN DIEGO
We want to thank those who attended and contributed to the success of our recent fundraiser for the project, which was held at 98 bottles on Kettner. We had a great turn-out, but we hope to raise more in funds and in-kind donations for this project.
We have completed the hands-on work of the project for Teen Options, which now has a beautiful new welcome area and nursery, and we were able to donate some much needed supplies for the young mothers and babies in the program.
To find out how you can still contribute to the project, email Nicole and Amanda at info@heederthompson.com.
Nicole and Amanda have also been actively involved in Lawyers’ Club’s semi-annual Read-Ins at Central Elementary School in San Diego. Most recently, they participated on Halloween 2012, where they joined in the Halloween spirit by appearing in costume as Thing 1 and Thing 2 and reading to the kids. See the Lawyers Club December 2012 Newsletter concerning the read-in.
